Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She released her first EP from the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain recognition. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music online in the year 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she continued to make music available on the web including her self launched single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes which was released on Sweat It Out in July 21st, 2015. J. Cole asked her to be a part of his collaboration on Rihanna's music references. Later in the period, she released music that circulated throughout Dreamville. The 8th of December was the day she revealed that she was signed to Dreamville Records. The Album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat alongside Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP on October 21st, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she was able to perform as a guest artist on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video which debuted on the 5th of September. On the 9th of November she released two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November, 13 she dropped two more singles titled No One or Pdigree. She appeared with Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16and later made the track available as a solo single for her first album. A music video was released on the 20th of February to go along with the track. Within a week, it was watched by more than 3,000,000 people. She was the opening act for 6LACK on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December, 2018.
